Barcelona
The talented Florencia Leon and me in Barcelona at Gaudis Casa Mila or Pedrera (The Quarry)
Anyone who knows Barcelona will tell you that in August, Barcelona closes down. Of the ten restaurants I needed to cover, only one was open. La Sacrada Familia was under repairs and had several huge cranes surrounding it.
However as a Freelance photographer I need to be creative, be able to improvise and to do the best with what I get. Luckily most magazines will give a wide and varied shoot list, Wine Enthusiast always does.
I was also lucky to have a sister in law, (Florencia Leon) who was living in Barcelona at the time. I spent a day with her walking around the town and just finding and photographing street life and the wonderful architecture that fills Barcelona, making it one of my favourite towns in Europe. The Gaudi buildings alone make it worth while. Also Frank Gehry has a plot or two with his signature on. The food, the night life, the parks, a not bad little football team and of course the Spanish wines all help out as well.
If you have not been, go; and if you have, you know that you will go again.
